Backpacking across the United States
Everybody is always talking about where
they should backpack in Europe, Australia or even in Canada.
Why is it that no one talks about going across the United
States with their backpacks to see their native country.
America has a lot to offer in beautiful sights, history and
culture. There are also many advantages to traveling in your
native country. These include speaking the same language, being
familiar with the currency and lower travel costs. Besides just
like in Europe there are hostels that you can stay at in the
Untied States. They are spread out across the country. There
are also many campsites across the country if that is how you
like to travel and if you are backpacking in the summer.
Another advantage to traveling in your own country is that if
you notice you are running low on money you can get a short
term job to replenish your cash before picking up your backpack
and moving on.
If seeing the United States is your backpacking plan then
there are many places worth seeing. National Parks such as the
Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Yellowstone and Zion are places worth
exploring. So are the Great lakes and Niagara Falls.
If historical landmarks are what you want to see there are
many of those as well. You can explore the Liberty Bell,
Independence Hall, The Statue of Liberty and The Alamo.
If its beaches you want to enjoy then you have your choice of
backpacking to Hawaii, California or Florida. New Orleans can
still offer you the history that came with the birth of
jazz. While Miami can offer you Cuban culture, Las Vegas
is the place to go if you are interested in backpacking all the
way to the desert to gamble. Maybe New York is more what
you want to see. It is the center of American business. Yet
there are many important landmarks there as well. If its
American history that intrigues you then your backpacking
journey should include Arizona. Wander down to Tombstone and
see the place where the Earps and the Clanton gang squared
off. But if its museums you want to wonder through go to
Washington DC and spend days going through the Smithsonian
museums.
California can offer you a lot to see aside from just its
sandy beaches. If the movie industry interests you Los Angeles
is where it all happens. San Diego has Sea World and a
lot of Spanish history worth wandering through. San Francisco
has Alcatraz, the prison that claims no one ever successfully
escaped. And there is Disneyland on both sides of the
country.
These are but a few of the historical, cultural or
entertainment centers that are spread throughout the United
States. The country has so much to offer to those who went to
take the time to explore it. Add to this the cultural
diversity and you have a trip in your native country that lets
you see what really make the United States the country everyone
talks about.
