Thetford c4 cassette toilet header tank in motorhome leaks from what appears to be a blanking plug on the opposite end to the filler plug. The toilet can presumably be installed on left or right side of a caravan/motorhome. The leaks is arms length away and can only be touched with finger tips and seen through a mirror. Any suggestions as to method of sealing. To remove the toilet to gain better access 10 days before a month away in France and Spain is not popular. Ivor the engine

Suggested Questions And Answer :

We have a water leak on a Thetford Style Plus toilet installed in our 2 1/2 year old Fifth Wheel RV. The toilet flange bolts appear to be tight and there is no visual evidence of black water leak or seepage. I suspect the problem may be with the water valve, but will have to pull the toilet to be able to inspect. Any advice?

Thetford says that the vacuum breaker is usually at fault. I have the same problem. Try changing the vacuum breaker first (it is easier than the water valve).

How do I remove the battery?

This is not intended to be a user replaceable battery, although I have found a replacement battery on-line.so that means that SOME people have replaced them. the cost is $9 +s&h. I don't think most camping outfitters would be able to help you with it, But it would be worth a try. My suggestion would be (if you have one in your area) take it to a Batteries Plus store. They are quite good at replacing batteries that are NOT meant for user replacement. Best of luck to you.

We have a new step style Thetford toilet in a brand new Rockwood trailer. When we apply gentle pressure to fill the main bowl water leaks over the small bowl at the back of the toilet and onto the floor. It appears the small bowl at the back may be missing a cover. As a temp fix I was considering covering with duct tape, but not sure how this would affect the function. Got any answers?

Sounds like the vacuum breaker is leaking. By small bowl at the top you mean the part that sticks up above the back of the toilet? If so, that is the vacuum breaker.
