Guide :Camping, Backpacking & Hiking : Strion 12V DC Only

I have a Streamlight Strion Xenon compact flashlight that has served me well for two years. Recently the 'twist to stay on' feature has failed. The 'push the tailswitch on' feature is still functioning, but the thumb tires after a bit. The battery is good and takes a good charge and the light is still bright. Everything still seems to be tight. I took the tail cap off and remove/replaced the battery, .. Any ideas? Thanks, Ray Paulson, Lincoln, Nebraska

Ray, sounds like the switch has a problem. Streamlight is usually really good about fixing things. If you can drop by a Stream retailer in your area, they will probably give you a new tail cap. Or contact STREAM directly. One thing, when you screw the tailcap tight, does the light come on? I have a SUREFIRE that does that, but I dont have a twist on Streamlight.

Thank you. This post helped me. I couldn't see the break in the filament of my bulb either so I just figured it had to be the battey so I replaced them and still nothing. After reading this post I put an ohm meter on the bulb and had nothing. Replaced the bulb and it works like a champ again.

I can't figure how to change the battery on this hardcase lantern took off the rubber surrounding the lantern face, but nothing else seems to come off without unscrewing, But seems like those sre rivits and not screws Thank you for your help. If there were a diagram I cound probable figure it out, they say a picture is worth a thousand words (smile)

I've owned this flashlight for years. In the comment above, ignore the instruction to remove the rubber casing around the lamp area. Simply grasp the whole front of the lamp piece (including the rubber cover), and twist in a counter-clockwise direction to remove. Then squeeze together the two black tabs and pull the battery compartment out to replace the batteries.
