I have a 4 D cell maglite. I have had it for about 10 years. The batteries leaked and froze in the unit. It was major work to remove them. In the process the part of the light that holds the bulb was lost. Can that part be replaced?

I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago. I got the address of the battery company (which is on battery), mailed them a hand written letter, explaining what happened, and they sent me a new flash, with batteries. But, that was when companies had warrenties that said if our batteries ever harm your product in any way, we will replace it free of charge. It's worth a will have send the old flash light and batteries, after, or with your letter.TJS

Ok, problem is the acid has corroded and caused a white powder residue to form, you will have to spray a solvent into the torch to free the batteries... bad news? the corrosion cannot be fully cleared and the maglite will always be on the blink... sorry but i have tried several times for people and just cannot clear it out fiully

How to get the bulb out of a 3-D battery maglite

Unscrew the head of the flashlight and take it off. There is a metal ring around the bulb that you have to unscrew to remove the bulb.

Here is the problem - the D size batteries must have been left in the Maglite too long and corroded a bit so I can't get them out. Can you remove the bulb housing from the flashlight. There is a blue ring that is around the base of the black bulb housing for most of the way. Does that come off? I hope to be able to push the batteries out from the top. Thanks for any help.

The last time I looked you could not really do that, I had the same problem. I got a small piece of music wire (like a coat hanger but made out of harder metal and a bit thinner) and put a small bend in the end and used this to hook the batteries. I would stick it in then twist it so the small "hook" would be over the top of the battery, then pulled it out. Also some battery companys say they will replace any device damaged by their leaking batteries. if you can tell what brand they are you could find out. Also if these are rechargeable Ni-Cd batteries the crud from the inside is toxic, so I would not mess with it

I have a 3AA LED mini maglite with stuck batteries. The best I can tell they have not leaked. I tried freezing the unit as well as heating the barrel to no avail. Is there a way of removing the bulb assembly out the top so I can use a dow to tap the batteries out? If not, how can I get them out? Thanks for any help you can give.

Well, I have a 3 cell mini maglite AA with a corroded battery stuck up next to the LED. I have searched but not found a way to remove the LED to push out the battery with a dowel. The best solution I read about was to drill a hole in the battery and insert a large screw and pull it all out. (My Maglite is from 2009 or 2010, but I think they made this model in 2011, 2012 and 2013- this is for SEO!)

Keeps turning itself off when adjusting beam

It sounds like the spring in the tail cap may be depressed which would cause intermittent contact with the negative end of the Batt. Shake the flashlight vigorously, you should NOT hear ANY noise. If you DO, take the end cap off and pull on the spring, you are trying to stretch it out a bit, replace the cap and shake it again. Go through these steps until it is QUIET when you shake it. Also make sure there's NO CORROSION at the Positive and Negative ends of the contacts. Maglites are pretty user friendly and the best light money can buy. I have the rechargeable model which I carried for 21 years during my tour in law enforcement. Anyway, if it still refuses to work properly, go to; they are based in California. They will help you get it going. Good luck. :)
