LED Flashlight Battery Drain Problem

This particular flashlight uses a microchip that consumes the power of the batteries, whether in use or not. Loosen the case to where the batteries go in, so there is no contact with polarity. Or just take the batteries out completely and replace them for actual use. GGBMDB

I have a Vector 2,000,000 Power Series Spotlight and I need a new battery. The current battery is SEL sealed lead- acid. The number is DMU 3-12 12v 3AH. I have been unable to find this battery anywhere. The dimensions have to be 4 and 1/8 inch long, 1 and 7/8 inch wide, and 2 and 3/4 inch deep. The connectors need to be on the end of the battery. I would appreciate any help I can get in this matter. Thanks, Merle Von Holten, Walnut, IL 61376

There is good news and bad news concerning a replacement battery for this particular model light. The good news is that a suitable, but not exact, replacement will be available at Battery Mart on November 30, 2010.The bad news is that it cost $29.95.http://www.batterymart.com/p-sla-1039-12-volt-2-3-ah-sealed-lead-acid-battery.htmlI purchased about a dozen of these lights in 2006 and have had them in storage since. No one can or will be more unhappy than I should all of them need new batteries.

Surefire 6p I was changing the battery in my Surefire 6P flashlight. The back end that has the push button slipped out of my hand and fell in the console of my car. No big deal....at least so I thought. I put the batteries as I always have. But it would not work. Could not get the button to depress. The spring is still in the back end. The button appears to be stuck or something I am just not doing right. Can you assist? Thanks in advance

Have you tryed looking for the button? Or you can try WD-40 but make sure that you wipe it down and when the button slipped out did you drop the flash light cause if you did you need to buy a new bulb.

I have a Garrity Industries #06443....AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT.....I cannot figure out how to open the case to change the batteries. I can unscrew the top of the unit to access the bulb. And, I assume that the small, notched end of the unit unscrews to access the batteries. I just cannot open...even with channel locks. So, I want to be sure that is the correct way to access the batteries before i really crnak on it....Thanks for your help. Bill

The notched end of the unit is the lid of the battery cover. It might be cross-threaded. Immerse that end in hot water and then twist holding with a dry towel. Hopefully that should open it.

My new flashlight wont stay on

Flashlights of this type are notorious for poor design. I had one where the contact spring at the top broke its connection. Others break the ground wire when the top is unscrewed. Another design flaw is trying to solder a ground connection to the anodized aluminum case - doesn't work. I am replacing the broken ground wires with longer, more flexible ones but that's not a permanent solution. Some LED board case grounds have been repaired by scraping the solder-to-case joint although in one case I had to replace the joint by wedging in a piece of bare copper wire. Hope these tips help.

Here is the problem - the D size batteries must have been left in the Maglite too long and corroded a bit so I can't get them out. Can you remove the bulb housing from the flashlight. There is a blue ring that is around the base of the black bulb housing for most of the way. Does that come off? I hope to be able to push the batteries out from the top. Thanks for any help.

The last time I looked you could not really do that, I had the same problem. I got a small piece of music wire (like a coat hanger but made out of harder metal and a bit thinner) and put a small bend in the end and used this to hook the batteries. I would stick it in then twist it so the small "hook" would be over the top of the battery, then pulled it out. Also some battery companys say they will replace any device damaged by their leaking batteries. if you can tell what brand they are you could find out. Also if these are rechargeable Ni-Cd batteries the crud from the inside is toxic, so I would not mess with it
