Replacing the two 6volt batt. Now I'm confused on how to connect both batt. together,....... with one black wire being connected to both GRD.TERMINALS, now I have a red wire an black wire left.. To me something is missing.3 wires,....4 terminals, does that work. I thought this would be a piece of cake.PS: Lost my manual, there a manual for battery hook-up. CONFUSE

Hi, if its a six volt system and you only had 3 wires to begin with, then you need to set it up like thishave a wire from the plus on one battery to the negative on teh other battery now connect the plus to the live and negative to the earth on the equipment,, right a bit confusing i knowso with the one wire you connect the plus on one battery to the negative on the other battery. this connects the two batterys together you then connect the live from one battery to your equipment and the negative on the other battery to your equipment and this then creates a circuit using both batteries.its basically the same as a torch with two pencil batteries one on top of the other at the bottom you have the negative and at the top you have the live but in the middle where the batteries meet they are connect by the live on one battery and the negative on the other battery.i hope you understand its a bit difficult to explain without drawing it. the negative below to equipment and the possitive here \ / -- 1st bat + (join one wire here) - 2nd bat +if yo now even more confused then give me a shout back the little basic diagram above is suppose to help you, but may not, its showing 2 batts one on the left and one on the right they are joined in the middle by black cable one bat is joined at possitve and the other negative then this leaves you with a possitive on the one battery and a negative on the other battery these then connect with your equipment and the two batteries are joined by the other single wirelet me know if you have any problems understanding what im saying ok, hopefully you will get it

My grama has this old lamp and just trying to

This is a late thirties early 40s lamp from what I can see of this. It should have an iron base to it. Again, from what I can see it is brass but cant tell if it is plated or not but I am going to say not plated. Polished up this will look really nice. The iron base, if restored, will have to be sealed or primed and painted to keep it from rusting again. Re-wiring is a must and you can get the cardboard sleeves to replace the old ones online or sometimes match them at a hardware store. The value unfinished is 50 to 60 dollars. Restored properly with the correct shade would be about a 250 dollar lamp. More accurate dating on this would be to look on the electrical labels on the cord or the sockets themselves.

Makita ML 140 torch. Old battery would not hold a charge as it was very old. Torch works well with a new Makita PA14 battery. But the handle gets quite hot and I need to dismantle it to find the problem. One would not expect heat from the handle but rather from the head. I have undone the screws but the swivel part also has to be removed for access. What is correct procedure? I am radio technician Thanks, Dave B.

Remove the lens, and bulb holder. look down into the cavity, and you will be able to see the spring loaded pivots. Find sonething narrow to push them in with, so that you can remove the head. here is my fix (with photos) for the 18v version
