The main storage capacitor has most likely failed. It's an electrolytic capacitor and over time they lose moisture through evaporation or leakage, and once they fail the only fix is to replacement. Sometimes you'll hear the familiar charging squeal but the ready lamp will never light, other times the cap will have totally failed and will not charge at all.Lifespan of these capacitors is really a combination of how they've been stored, how often and how intensively they've been used, local environmental factors and sheer luck. I've got some hard-worked units which are still working after nearly thirty years, and one of the most expensive units I ever bought failed after just three years of regular but light usage.I'm not familiar with your precise model, but the capacitor itself is relatively cheap and if you're careful to correctly discharge the capacitor first and can solder then it's usually straightforward although can be fiddly. I've never yet found a flash unit with a failed cap which could not be replaced, although on some models you have to de-solder other parts to get at it. On more modern units the casings can be hard to separate without damaging them.Alternatively, just buy another used model. Typically they sell for a comparable price to the repair costs, but then you're taking pot-luck as to whether the replacement is going to fail. There are other causes, such as black wire corrosion or circuit failure. In the first case, the copper conductors in the wires from the battery terminals to the main circuit board change into a highly resistive black or blue oxide (just test their resistance, it should be effectively zero). The problem can spread onto the circuit board tracks as well. If it's just the wires then you can replace them. If it's spread to the circuit board tracks or there are other circuitry faults then your model will be totally beyond economic repair.

Hi i have found a coleman lamp in the loft in good condition i want to use it for myself for fishing , but it does not preasure when i try and pump it could you help coleman 201 use generator 201-5891 thats whats on the lamp regards ****

The leathers have dried out, the new replacements don't always fit the older lamps, you can buy the parts at Walmart, easily replaced, but getting the new parts to seat right takes a while, be patient, it'll get going after a couple blisters. Check the mantles while you are at it and pick up a couple of them, you'll need them. And some fresh gas.

I received this for Christmas and used it only twice in January. I went to use it this week and it lit up for a few minutes and died. I tried charging it until the green light came on. I unplugged the power cord I was using to charge it and tried to turn the light on, no light. I charged it for 12 hours, the green light was flashing, but the bulbs do not come on. What are my next steps?

Plugged it into the Vector to charge, the see if the Vector would light up without a problem, if it lights then your battery is shot.
