Fluorescent lamps need a high voltage in order to ionise the gas inside and make them light up..Torch batteries will not produce enough voltage alone so the battery voltage is boosted by an inverter that is incorporated into the torch or lamp body. It is unfortunate but the majority of such lamp inverters use the cheapest, nastiest, flimsiest circuitry it is possible to use in such things and having taken a few lamps and torches (of respectable brands) apart and seen such things I find it easy to imagine they were thrown together in a far eastern handbag factory when there was a world slump in handbag sales. When working correctly the inverter produces a voltage high enough to really surprise anyone touching the wrong parts but they do tend to be unreliable due to the usually low quality. A handy person could conceivably persuade such a lantern to dismantle and check the switch and wiring and ensure the battery voltage is reaching the inverter but it would need electronic experiece to venture further into the reasons why it stopped working. A replacement tube could be tried but they fail rarely and rarely do they operate long enough to actually wear out so buying a new tube is likely to be wasted money.

How to repair SunLight Underwater Kinetics SL6 Dive Light

Corrosion is a problem! I found that WD40 with a hard bristle tooth brush sometimes does the trick. Clean the corrosion and check that it hasn't corroded completely through the coil or where it connects. Replace the batteries and try again. If it has a standard filament light globe it can be checked with a multimeter ( should show around 7 ohms).

Rechargeable maglite Light comes on in vehicles charger for 12v, back up 110v charger light comes but light is not charging. Battery only shows 2.5 volts. I have pulled the flashlight apart for cleanning brefore and I am sure i put it back together properlly. I have checked online to look for a diagram of the charging rings to make sure i put everything back the way it was supposed to be but cant find one.

Unless you are using your Mag. in extreme dusty, dirty conditions, it is not necessary to take it apart for cleaning. The Mag. is sealed against dirt and moisture. Mags are about the best lite made but always remember; 'Anything man made is subject to fail and usually at the most inconvenient time.' If I knew exactly where you are at in the dissasembly I could help you reassemble it. However, barring that; Go to;, they can help you with what ever you need. Good luck. :)
