My AA Mini Maglite needed a new bulb, and I am upgrading with a 3 white LEDs and a tail cap switch ... but now nothing I try can get the torch to work. Can you possibly, help, please?

You've introduced two variables to your flashlight, and each needs to be tested independently. It's possible that one--or both--isn't working properly. It's equally possible that one or both of these replacement parts isn't perfectly meshing with the conductive areas of the maglite body, meaning that they're not completing the basic circuit needed to power the light. The best way to test your tailcap switch is either to try it with another maglite or test its continuity with a multi-tester. With the tester, you should be able to toggle between readings of infinite resistance (switch off, no circuit) and little or no resistance (switch turned on). If you're stuck at infinite resistance, there's a problem with the switch. You could test the LED insert by using test clips to touch power to the module to see whether it will light up. My guess is that the components are probably good, but that somewhere along the line, there's a break in the basic circuit. My leading suspect would be the connection from the LED module to the negative (flashlight body) side. It could be that the module is slightly out of round and it's simply not making contact. It could be that the finish of the maglite is acting as an insulator. However, I would recommend deferring this analysis until you've confirmed that each component works fine. Good luck!

Look where the batteries go and make sure there is no crud or corrosion in the housing or on the spring in the end cap .if you remove the bulb and check the voltage using a multimeter ,if its under 3 volts you have a bad connection somewhere in the housing.
